Bear Paw has earned a reputation as an excellent source for archery mule deer and the 2009 season was no exception. We took 7 hunters and harvested 6 Pope & Young mule deer.
Bill Henry brought in our best deer of the year with Veteran guide Shawn Pinkett. This deer will be in the top 20 typicals harvested in Alberta with a gross score of 193 and a net of 188 Pope & Young.
Four time repeat hunters, Bryan Wallace and Ken Snyder, took a pair of great deer after superb stalks with guides Robyn McKean and Ben Funk. Both deer were in the 170’s Pope & Young.
Ken Garles finished off his first time hunt with us with a well placed shot from a perfect blind set-up by guides Shawn Pinkett and Justin Redlick, another 170”+ massive buck for Bear Paw.
Six time repeat hunter, Joe Rogers, hammered a 160” mule deer with his recurve bow; his 3rd in 3 years – all Pope & Young.
Staff writer and renowned bow hunter, Gus Congemi, hunted a legitimate 200”+ Mule deer with guide Ben Funk for 7 days before taking a Pope & Young candidate on the second last day of his trip.
Another 4 time repeat hunter, Ira Deshields, hunted with veteran guide Jamey Langlois and focused on 2 giant bucks right to the last day to no avail.
