Fall Black Bear Hunts with Bear Paw were again "Excellent" as 24 hunters harvested 38 bears for a 158% success rate. Hunters averaged 8+ bear sightings on the six day hunts. Size average was 6' 7", our highest average since 1993.
We attribute this to continually baiting new bear country as well as not having to over hunt our baits. Color variation was about normal for the fall, at 25%. 16 Pope & Young or larger bears were taken by our clients.
Steve Napier took the largest bear of the year, a massive 7"10", 485 lb. boar with a 20 4/8 skull, guided by rookie guide Daryl Drynan.
