Our 2013 Black Bear hunt proved to be one of our most successful in our history at 155% success. Quality was simply outstanding with nine 7’ bears harvested in 2013.
Spring numbers were solid with our traditional one to two 7’ bears per week. Fall was crazy! With 4 of the biggest bears I have seen in 25 years.
Kim Englebert and Vance McCullers harvested two 7 ½ foot, 21” monsters, both in excess of 450 pounds.
Bear Paw is further limiting the number of hunters in 2014 to ensure upper end quality on our black bear hunts.
29% of our bears were brown, blonde, or cinnamon. The Peace Country is one of the best areas in North America for size and color variety.
The spring hunt consists of 30 to 40 active baits being the norm.
In the fall, we bait hunt as well as spot and stalk as the bears’ raid the cereal grain crops in August and September.
This hunt is the perfect opportunity for archery or primitive weapons. All stands are strategically placed for a 12 – 20 yard shot.
