Bear Paw’s 2016 Spring Bear hunt was very strong. Excellent quality and continued highest success rate of 180%. We took 18 hunters this spring.
We only took clients we had originally booked and didn’t pursue further bookings as the loss of Scott was so recent. Our most common bear size is 6 foot to 6 1/2 foot with an average of 7 foot + bears coming in once a week. 30% of the harvest were colored bears. Those who did not harvest 2 bears had opportunity but chose to hold out for a larger or colored bear.
Most of our bears are harvested in the big timber in the Boreal Forest. We have built and continue to build new stands with some accommodating 2 people.
We will be taking a limited number of hunters in 2017. 5 weeks of hunts and 6 hunters per week. We can accommodate larger groups as well.
Fall bear hunting is a perfect combination of spot & stalk and bait hunting.
Big bears move into the grain fields providing excellent opportunity for top end bears.
Zone 523 and 527 provide excellent quality and high bear density.
This is a very popular bear hunt for the hunter who doesn’t want to hunt over bait.
We were 100% successful on the fall bear hunt. Out of 12 bears harvested, seven of the bears were in the 7' range and 4 overall were color phase.
