Bear Paws’ elk hunts are during the traditional rutting period from mid-September to early October. Few places in North America allow the traveling hunter the opportunity to hunt rutting elk with the weapon of their choice. Most of our hunting is done by locating bulls by bugling and then stalking close enough to make the shot count. We also hunt some of our elk out of stands over feed plots. This low impact hunting has proven successful on our private land hunts.
Elk in our area tend to be massive bodied and heavy horned. We primarily are hunting 5 X 5 or better elk. Our upper-end bulls will surpass the 300-point mark. The hunt is one of the best values for the hunter in search of a reasonable priced elk hunt.
